場(chǎng)景設(shè)定:
小美和 Jack 在健身房運(yùn)動(dòng)後,一邊拉筋一邊聊天。他們開(kāi)始討論「減肥到底是靠運(yùn)動(dòng)還是靠飲食?」
英文對(duì)話(huà)
Mei: I’m so tired after running 5 kilometers. Do you think exercise is the key to weight loss?
Jack: Honestly, I think diet is more important.
Mei: Really? But if I don’t exercise, I feel guilty.
Jack: True, but if you keep eating junk food, exercise won’t help much.
Mei: So you mean calorie control matters more?
Jack: Exactly. Exercise helps, but diet makes a bigger difference.
Mei: But K-pop idols work out a lot, right?
Jack: Yes, but they also follow strict meal plans.
Mei: Hmm, maybe I should focus on eating less sugar.
Jack: That’s a good start. Exercise plus diet is the best combo.
Mei: Sounds tough, but I’ll give it a try.

J: Today we’re tackling a really common question—one you hear everywhere. When you want to lose weight, what’s actually more important? Is it the diet, or is it the exercise?
J:今天我們要探討一個(gè)很常見(jiàn)的問(wèn)題,嗯,你到處都會(huì)聽(tīng)到。當(dāng)你想減肥時(shí),到底什麼比較重要?是飲食,還是運(yùn)動(dòng)?
M: It’s that classic debate. And, you know, beyond just figuring that out, we really want to equip you today—give you the actual English words and phrases you need to talk about this confidently. We’ll use a, uh, pretty typical conversation as our guide.

小美:嗯…那我是不是該少吃點(diǎn)糖?
Jack:這就是好開(kāi)始啊。運(yùn)動(dòng)加飲食才是完美組合。
小美:聽(tīng)起來(lái)很辛苦,不過(guò)我會(huì)試試看。
J: Okay, so that conversation gave us a lot. Let’s pull out some useful vocabulary so you can use these ideas in your own conversations.
J:好,這段對(duì)話(huà)真的讓我們學(xué)到很多。我們來(lái)整理一些有用的單字,這樣你也可以在自己的對(duì)話(huà)中用上它們。
M: First, calorie. We hear this all the time. It’s, uh, basically a unit of energy from food.
M:首先是 calorie(卡路里)。這個(gè)詞我們常常聽(tīng)到,它基本上就是食物中能量的單位。
J: Right. So you might say something like, “You should count your calories if you want to lose weight.”
J:對(duì),所以你可以說(shuō)像是:「如果你想減肥,應(yīng)該計(jì)算自己的卡路里攝取?!?/p>
M: Or maybe understand them better.
M:或者至少要更了解它們。
J: Yeah, understand the source of calories.
J:對(duì),要了解熱量的來(lái)源。
M: Then there was junk food.
M:然後是 junk food(垃圾食物)。
M: Everyone knows junk food.
M:大家都知道什麼是垃圾食物。
J: Pretty much.
J:基本上都知道啦。
M: It refers to food that’s, you know, high in calories but doesn’t offer much nutritional value. Like Jack said, eating too much junk food makes weight loss harder.
M:它指的是那種熱量高,但營(yíng)養(yǎng)價(jià)值低的食物。就像 Jack 說(shuō)的,吃太多垃圾食物會(huì)讓減肥變得更困難。
J: Then meal plan. What does that mean exactly?
J:再來(lái)是 meal plan(飲食計(jì)畫(huà))。那到底是什麼意思呢?
M: It’s basically a structured eating schedule, like planning your meals ahead for a specific goal. “She follows a strict meal plan to stay fit.”
M:它其實(shí)就是一個(gè)有規(guī)劃的進(jìn)食時(shí)間表,比如為了某個(gè)目標(biāo)提前安排好每一餐。像是:「她遵循一個(gè)嚴(yán)格的飲食計(jì)畫(huà)來(lái)保持身材?!?/p>
J: And you used the word strict there. That came up with the K-pop idols too.
J:你剛剛用了 strict(嚴(yán)格的)這個(gè)詞。這個(gè)也有在 K-pop 偶像的那段對(duì)話(huà)中出現(xiàn)。
M: Right. Strict just means very disciplined, following rules closely. K-pop idols have strict diets and routines—not much flexibility there.
M:對(duì),strict 的意思就是非常有紀(jì)律、嚴(yán)格遵守規(guī)則。K-pop 偶像的飲食和日常作息都非常嚴(yán)格——幾乎沒(méi)有彈性。
M: And May’s “feeling guilty.”
M:還有 May 提到的「感到內(nèi)疚」。
M: That feeling of having done something wrong, or maybe not done something you should have. Like, “I feel guilty when I skip exercise.”
M:那種做錯(cuò)事,或沒(méi)做應(yīng)該做的事時(shí)的感覺(jué)。像是:「我沒(méi)去運(yùn)動(dòng)就會(huì)覺(jué)得很罪惡?!?/p>
J: And lastly, combo, short for combination.
J:最後是 combo,這是 combination(組合)的縮寫(xiě)。
M: Exactly. It just means things working together. “Exercise and diet make a perfect combo.” Simple, useful word.
M:沒(méi)錯(cuò),它就是指幾個(gè)元素一起發(fā)揮效果的意思。像是:「運(yùn)動(dòng)跟飲食是一個(gè)完美的組合?!惯@個(gè)字簡(jiǎn)單又實(shí)用。
J: Great words. And the conversation also had some really useful sentence patterns we can borrow.
J:這些單字都很棒,而且這段對(duì)話(huà)也有一些很實(shí)用的句型可以學(xué)起來(lái)。
M: Like Jack’s warning: “If you keep eating junk food…” It’s great for talking about ongoing actions and what happens because of them.
M:例如 Jack 的警告:「如果你繼續(xù)吃垃圾食物…」這個(gè)句型很適合用來(lái)描述持續(xù)的行為,以及可能帶來(lái)的後果。
J: So you could say, “If you keep practicing, your English will improve.”
J:所以你也可以說(shuō):「如果你持續(xù)練習(xí),你的英文會(huì)進(jìn)步?!?/p>
M: Perfect example. Then there was comparing importance with “~ matters more.” Jack said, “Diet matters more.”
M:完美的例子。然後還有比較重要性的句型:「~ matters more」,Jack 說(shuō):「飲食更重要?!?/p>
J: So you could use it like, for language learning, “Consistency matters more than studying for hours once a week.”
J:這句型也可以用在語(yǔ)言學(xué)習(xí)上,例如:「每週讀很久一次,不如每天穩(wěn)定學(xué)習(xí)來(lái)得重要?!?/p>
M: And showing something isn’t very effective: “~ won’t help much.” Like, “Exercise won’t help much if the diet’s bad.” Or, “Just reading the words won’t help much if you don’t practice speaking.”
M:還有一個(gè)句型是用來(lái)表達(dá)某件事沒(méi)什麼幫助:「~ won’t help much」,像是「如果飲食不好,光靠運(yùn)動(dòng)幫助不大?!够蚴恰钢蛔x單字,如果不練習(xí)說(shuō),也沒(méi)什麼幫助?!?/p>
J: And for encouraging those first steps, Jack used, “~ is a good start.”
J:還有用來(lái)鼓勵(lì)第一步的句型:「~是一個(gè)不錯(cuò)的開(kāi)始?!?/p>
M: Like, eating less sugar is a good start. Or, learning 10 new words a week is a good start.
M:例如「少吃糖是一個(gè)好的開(kāi)始」,或是「每週學(xué)10個(gè)新單字是個(gè)好開(kāi)始」。
J: And finally, “~ makes a big difference” for showing a significant impact.
J:最後是「~有很大影響」這個(gè)句型,表示某事對(duì)結(jié)果有很大的作用。
M: “Switching to whole foods makes a big difference”. Or “practicing speaking every day makes a big difference”.
M:改吃原型食物會(huì)有很大的改變?;蚴敲刻炀毩?xí)口說(shuō)也會(huì)帶來(lái)很大進(jìn)步。
J: These patterns are super flexible.
J:這些句型真的超實(shí)用又靈活。
M: Thank you so much for tuning in and exploring this with us. We really hope you feel more prepared to chat about these things now.
M:真的非常感謝你今天的收聽(tīng),和我們一起探討這個(gè)話(huà)題。我們真的希望你現(xiàn)在更有信心可以用英文談?wù)撨@些事了。
M: And hey, if you want the full transcript, key vocabulary, and sentence patterns, just click the link below.
